Using Your Marijuana Card

Using Your Florida MMJ Card

You are certified. Now what? This cluster covers everything a Florida MMJ cardholder needs to know — finding licensed dispensaries, understanding product types, dosing guidance, and staying within your legal purchase limits.

What This Cluster Covers

Getting certified is the first step. Using your card effectively — finding the right dispensary, understanding your product options, and managing your dose — is where the ongoing patient experience lives. The three guides in this cluster address each part of that picture for Florida MMJ cardholders in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.

If you are not yet certified, start with the Getting Your Card cluster. If you have your card and want to understand what you can and cannot do with it, the Florida MMJ Law cluster covers the legal boundaries in detail.

Dispensary Access — What New Cardholders Need to Know

Florida's licensed dispensaries are formally called Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs). Your OMMU certification is valid at any licensed MMTC statewide — you are not restricted to a dispensary in your county or city. There are multiple licensed MMTCs throughout Palm Beach County and the surrounding area.

Your dispensary access begins the moment your certifying physician enters your certification into the OMMU registry — which happens at the time of your Miracle Leaf evaluation. You do not need to wait for your physical card to arrive in the mail. Bring your Florida ID and your OMMU patient ID number to your first visit.

What dispensary staff see when they look up your account: Your active certification status, your approved delivery methods, and your remaining 70-day purchase allowance for each method. They do not see your underlying medical diagnosis — only your certification status and what your physician has approved.

The Most Important Rule — Start Low and Go Slow

Regardless of delivery method, condition, or prior experience with cannabis, every Florida MMJ patient benefits from the same starting principle: begin with the lowest available dose and adjust slowly upward based on your response. This is especially important when trying a new delivery method or a new product formulation.

The reason: cannabis effects are highly individual. The same dose and delivery method produce very different effects in different patients — based on body weight, metabolism, tolerance, and the specific condition being treated. What works well for another patient may be too much or too little for you. Your dispensary consultant is a resource — use them at your first visit.
